Work on the first phase of the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project, which was scheduled to be completed in August this year, is now expected to be completed in June 2006.

Of the total 62-kms to be completed in the first phase, 37 kms has been completed so far (6-kms of expressway, 6-kms of link road and 25-kms on peripheral road), according to a representative of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises, the project promoters.

To be opened

The 8.6 km stretch of the peripheral road connecting Kengeri (Mysore Road) and Kanakapura Road (Thalagattapura) is planned to be opened for vehicular movement on January 26, 2006, the company representative said. The Government has not transferred the land to the project promoters-Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises on time leading to the delay in completing the first phase, the representative said.

The Government has transferred only around 1,400 acres to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises so far for the first phase. Of the 1,400 acres, 300-350 acres was transferred in the last three weeks, the company representative said.

Work on the first phase had commenced in February 2004, the representative added.

Scheduled to be completed

Forty-one kms of peripheral road, 12-kms of expressway and 9-kms of link road (total 62 kms), 10 inter-changes and one township were scheduled to be completed in the first phase by August 2005, if the Government had transferred 5,600 acres of land to the project promoters.

The State government had issued preliminary notification for acquiring 20,193 acres of land for the project.

According to engineers at the project site, around six-kms of the expressway commencing from Sompura, near Kengeri has been completed.

Bidadi to be connected

Another six-kms is planned to be completed, which will provide connectivity till Bidadi, they said.

The Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project comprises 41-kms of peripheral road; 111 km expressway connecting Bangalore and Mysore and five townships along the expressway.
