Book KSRTC tickets online from January

Book KSRTC tickets online from January
Deccan Herald

Come January, and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will don a tech-savvy ‘Avatar’. Serpentine queues before the ticket counters will be forgotten, soon you can book with the click of a computer button. You need not pray for that window seat, you can choose your preferred seats through the website itself. And you can book your ticket online, even without a credit card -- book and pay later when you board the bus.

Going the airline way, KSRTC will be the first public transport corporation in India that will have an online reservation portal. According to Venu Myneni, CEO and MD of Radiant Solutions, information on reservations, timings and wait-listed details can be provided through SMS and e-mails too.

Radiant Solutions is part of the consortium formed for the implementation of the project.

Other members include IBM and Central for Railway Information System (CRIS) and the consortium is led by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). Commuters can also allot, modify or cancel their tickets, he adds. “The system will provide the facilities of cancellation, partial cancellation, modification, partial modification like passenger name, pre-ponement and post-ponement of journey through the web,” Myneni explains.

While public-KSRTC interface is the primary objective of the new portal, the transport corporation’s administrative affairs will also turn e-savvy, says Myneni. The portal will be integrated with KSRTC sub-systems related to accounting, ticket inventory and ticketing.

It will also generate Management Information System (MIS) reports pertaining to schedules and passenger load, which are required by the depot staff.

All financial transactions will also be consolidated on a daily basis, he adds.
