BMRC To Take Up Road Widening Soon On Mysore Road Stretch

Bangalore: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) is set to commence the road-widening work for traffic management as part of Namma Metro’s construction on Reach 2. According to the BMRC, it will soon take up this work on the reach — between Magadi Road and Mysore Road terminal — along with the Karnataka Land Army Corporation (KLAC).
The corporation has completed valuation of land and buildings that will make way for the Metro on this reach. About Rs 141.11 crore has been awarded as compensation to 101 property owners. About 90% of the demolition of structures on this reach has been completed.
The BMRC has totally passed Rs 249.81 crore as awards in 251 cases, covering
more than 66,000 sq m. It has released 3.1 crore as rehabilitation allowances to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), of which about Rs 2.78 crore has been passed on to 310 persons. Across all four reaches, the BMRC has taken possession of 293 properties.
REACH 1 PROGRESS
On the M G Road stretch of Reach 1, that’s still the face of the project, the first span is being erected. On this reach, 658 piles (of the total 953) have been completed. Full-length piers have come up on this reach at 34 locations.

Bangalore: The extension of Metro Rail link from Jaraganahalli to Puttenahalli, on a 0.6-km stretch, got the cabinet nod on Friday.
According to the blue print prepared, Metro Rail was planned up to Jaraganahalli from R V Road, covering a distance of 3.1 km. With the extension of 0.6 km from Jaraganahalli to Puttenahalli, the number of stations have been to three. Earlier, the stations were planned at Banashankari and Jaraganahalli. Now stations would come up at Banashankari, J P Nagar and Puttenahalli Cross. “Cost has escalated from Rs 512 crore to Rs 681 crore,” rural development and panchayat raj minister Shobha Karandlaje said.
