CM’s quickfix: ride smooth after Jan. 15
ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO STEPS BACK

Bangalore: New Year, old promises. So, look forward to pothole-free roads throughout the state from January 15.
This could be a reality if chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s directive to all district administrations is implemented. Interacting with deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, chief executive officers and Public Works Department officials through a video-conference here on Friday, he directed them to fix all potholes in the state, including those in Bangalore, by January 15.
Besides the progress of development works and implementation of welfare schemes, the CM enquired about the status of roads and potholes. None of the district authorities have filled all potholes. The officials told the CM that work was in progress and PWD principal secretary was on tour, issuing directions and monitoring progress.
The CM, who didn’t seem happy with the answers, firmly said: “All potholes in the state should be filled. Will you do it?’’ The officials replied: “Yes, sir.’’ We’re waiting. Like before.
