Bangalore : The state government is cracking the whip on those misusing beacon-fitted government vehicles.

KS Sridhara, transport secretary, in his letter to the transport commissioner said, the decision was taken as there are chances of anti-social elements misusing such vehicles to create law and order problems. Sridhara urged the transport commissioner to take immediate action and frame and impliment rules on the use of such vehicles.

Sridhara said except dignitaries from the government, chief minister, cabinet-rank minister, senior officers such as deputy commissioner, High court judges, Lokayukta and secretaries and opposition leaders of assembly and council, no one should use the vehicles fitted with a beacon.

The police should ensure that the beacon lights are covered with a black cloth when the dignitaries are not in it.
