Mayor Mumtaz Begum has sought a detailed report from the BMP Commissioner, on the action taken against Garuda Mall developers for ‘rampant building violations’.

In a letter sent to BMP Commissioner K Jairaj, on Wednesday, the Mayor reminded him that the commercial complex - a joint venture between the BMP and Maverick Company (Garuda Mall), had violated many norms. And this had created chaos at the BMP Council meetings.

“Earlier, you had ordered a detailed inquiry into the case and also assured that the portion of the building with deviation would be demolished and strict action would be initiated against the erring officials. However, you have not come out with the action-taken report,” said the Mayor. She also added that it had come to her notice that the proposed project site had been inspected by Karnataka Lokayukta. And she feared this would create flutter in the coming Council meetings. “I request you to take appropriate action at the earliest,” she added.
