Entry into K.R. Market, Kalasipalyam APMC Yard to be regulated

# Markets should be open between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.
# Cleaning should be compulsorily taken up at night
# A park to be raised in front of K.R. Market

Bangalore: The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) on Wednesday came up with guidelines that traders would need to follow for maintaining cleanliness in Sri Krishnarajendra Market and APMC Yard, Kalasipalyam, in the city.

According to directions issued by Commissioner K. Jairaj here, entry into markets must be regulated with the issue of identity cards to all authorised licensees. The markets should have regular hours and be open between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. with a break between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

He has directed the officials concerned to make sure that the cleaning of markets was taken up between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. compulsorily. The Medical Officer of Health along with the Zonal Health Officer should monitor the cleaning. Drinking water connections should be provided within the markets.

He said the cemented area in the market should be used as a plaza with benches and green cover.

A park should be commissioned in front of the K.R. Market.

Mr. Jairaj said that in the basement of the markets, computerised entry to facilitate proper parking should be taken up. The lifts available should be serviced and officials should make sure that they functioned properly.

A stretch of 100-metre drain in Sethu Rao Street should be connected to other portions.

Officials had been directed to take steps to improve lighting in the markets. A notice might be served to the associations once entry was restricted. They would be held responsible for littering. Gates had to be fixed to regulate entry, Mr. Jairaj said.
