PIL on building by-laws violation: Government reply sought

BANGALORE: The High Court on Tuesday directed the State Government to file its response to a PIL challenging a notification which had allowed violation of building bye-laws by those who gift a portion of land to the civic bodies, within two months

The petition by a city resident, D Sundareshan has challenged the notification issued by the Urban Development department on January 18, 2005 which allowed the land owners who surrender some of their land to the civic body for public purpose, to violate a percentage of building bye-laws, and transfer the privilege to some other persons.

The petition has contended that such amnesty to violations, being contradictory to the spirit of orderly development of the city, would be misused to the detriment of the city
