FOLLOWING a High Court order , officials of the Bangalore City Corporation (BCC) on W ednesday sealed eight offices that were operating from residential premises in the I (first) and III Blocks of K oramangala.

Led by assistant executive engineer Puttaswamy Gowda, the team, comprising an assistant engineer , five health inspectors and six policemen, began the operation at noon and completed it by evening.

Of the 25 offices that had to be sealed, six had already been vacated and after W ednesday’s operation, only 11 offices remained, officials informed.

Some of the offices, citing various reasons, asked for more time to vacate the place. Ho wever , BCC officials did not pay heed to the excuses.

A few house owners, who had rented out their buildings to the offices, alleged that the officials were targeting only small violators and had let the big violators go scot free.

When a house owner questioned BCC officials on why his building alone was being targeted while no action was being taken against another four-floored building in the neighbourhood, the officials clarified that the o wner of the fourfloored building had also been served a notice.

The officials pointed out that they were only follo wing an order of the High Court.

An enraged house o wner , who tried to snatch the camera from a media lensman shooting pictures, was prevented from doing so by the police.
