Outer Ring Road property owners castigate BDA

Bangalore: Over 1,000 property owners residing near the city’s Outer Ring Road attended the Janaspandana programme on Monday to discuss the road-widening project that will be taken up in the 14.5-km stretch between Mysore Road junction and Central Silk Board, Hosur Road.

B.N. Venkatesh Murthy, Core Committee Member of the ORR Property Owners’ Association, told The Hindu that buildings in 15-year-old layouts had been marked for demolition. “We build homes and plan for our lifetime,” he said.

He said that the Bangalore Development Authority’s Comprehensive Development Plan in 1995 stipulated that the ORR be a 150-foot-wide road. “The implementing agency has not followed it and in some stretches, the road is just 100 feet wide,” he said. Writer Girish Karnad and Tara participated.

Ms. Tara said the authorities were destroying dreams of hundreds of people.
