The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has introduced the 'Pay and Park' system in the City’s six market areas for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. One-year contracts have been awarded.

At SKR market, the basement parking contract is awarded to H R Krishna till May 31, 2010; the Yeshwantpur complex parking contract to A Mahesh Kumar till November 9, 2009; Rajajinagar complex parking to H S Rukmananda till December 14, 2009;

Jayanagar complex to N Rajesh till October 16, 2009; Public Utility Building basement parking to H N Rukmananda till June 6, 2010; and Russel market parking contract to Ramakrishna N.

For two-wheelers, the parking fee is Rs 1.50 for a period upto two hours; Rs 4 for two to six hours; and Rs 8 for beyond six hours. For four-wheelers, the parking fee is Rs 5 for upto two hours; Rs 10 for two to six hours; and Rs 15 for beyond six hours. If the contractors levy charges in addition to these specified rates, the vehicle-owners could complain to the BBMP Revenue Officer (Market) on Ph: 9480684078 / 22371175, or the Palike head office on Ph: 22221188.
