BANGALORE: Hebbal constituency has an equal concentration of residential an commercial area. It is dotted with educational institutions, hotels and business establishments. Most of the commercial activities are carried out by small-time traders who continue to set up shops in areas like RT Nagar, Anandnagar, Ganganagar and surrounding areas. The constituency boasts of a large water body — the Hebbal lake, but has very few parks or green spaces. Bad roads in residential pockets is also a point of concern. Residents say that over the last decade population in this area has shot up. And after the inauguration of the international airport, traffic in this area has gone up. A common sight here is garbage dumped on roads as there is no system of prompt disposal. Mallik, a resident of Anandnagar complains that the drains haven’t been desilted for years. Areas including Sanjaynagar, RT Nagar and RMV II stage are posh localities as a few VIPs reside here, but other areas including parts of J CNagar, Gundappa block, Nagashettyhalli, Kausernagar, Hanumatappa Layout and surrounding areas are in a bad shape.
The citizens' welfare organisations of Sanjaynagar, Anandnagar and RT Nagar are active and have been working towards the improvement of the localities.
