Nature group demands greener city

Bangalore: Members of city-based Environment Support Group marched from Lalbagh to Town Hall earlier this morning protesting against BBMP's road widening process.

Environmentalists and residents, who joined the protest alleged that the proposed road widening was unscientific and may cost hundreds of trees. They demanded for safe roads and widening of roads without destroying the city's greenery.

Protestors also demanded the underground metro route in core Bangalore includes Lalbagh and Cubbon Park.

"We demand a scientific way to widen roads, as the current projects are destroying the greenery," said Dinesh Gundu Rao, MLA.
