Study on BIA expansion

Study on BIA expansion
Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), the promoters of Bengaluru International Airport, earlier in the year had spoken of starting construction of a second terminal and a second runway next year. But with the current downturn in the aviation market, BIAL is projecting a 10% drop in passenger air traffic at 9.2 million for the year 2008-09 compared to last year. Speaking on the company’s expansion plans, BIAL CEO Albert Brunner told TOI: “We are conducting a study on the current trend and based on the results, which will be out in two-three months, we will take a decision on our next expansion.” The airport promoters also had plans of building an “express terminal” to the western side of the airport.
