Residents pour out water woes

Residents pour out water woes

Bangalore: Residents of Indiranagar East and Domlur II Stage on Tuesday poured out their water woes in front of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials at a meeting here.

While some complained of irregular water supply and low pressure in supply, others alleged that the supply depended on the whims and fancies of the valvemen. “The valvemen ensure that the supply is for longer hours in some areas if anyone pays them some money. As a result, water supply to other areas is affected,” G. Ramamoorthy, Secretary of the Coordinating Committee of Indiranagar Welfare Associations, which organised the meet, said.

Some women urged the engineers to inspect the areas regularly during supply hours. Others wanted the water board to replace old and corroded pipelines to prevent contamination and leaks.

BWSSB executive engineers of Indiranagar East and Domlur II Stage, Narasimha Murthy and Shashidharan, told the residents that their problems would be redressed in the next two months. Chief coordinator of the committee S.C. Burman was present.
