Chief Minister Yeddyurappa announced that 200 more Volvo buses would be introduced by March this year. Other important plans of BMTC are:

*Introduction of 1000 Vajra buses with A/C in 5 years by augmenting 200 Vajra buses per year
*Total number of Vajra buses at the end of the year will be 310; at present there are 110 buses

Project 3
Implementation of Passenger Information System:
*80 Vayu Vajra bus stops identified to put up PIS display units with real time information on Vayu Vajra services
*In Vayuvajra buses LCD boards fitted to display real time information & entertainment
*Real time information of Airline arrival and departure on LCD boards fitted in Vayu Vajra buses & at bus stops
*All the Vayu Vajra and other buses operating in Airport route to be fitted with GPS & display units

FROM KM 16.80 TO 139.18 SARJAPURA –DABASPET SECTION (in kms)
*TN Border 16.80 km; Sarjapur 19; Chikkathirupati 30; Hoskote 59; Devanahalli 84

*Doddaballpur 103; Doddabelavangala 118; Dobbespet 139.18

HOSUR-DOBBESPET SECTION
*The road runs over tank bunds and marshy areas in certain reaches, due to which the road is damaged and requires major repairs very often.

*The NH 207 is being viewed as a major link connecting important National Highways around Bangalore and passing very close to International Airport at Devanahalli

STATUS OF NH 207
*Road under bridge at KM 322.150 at Benniganahalli on NH -4 MKB Section
*An estimate for the construction of additional vents to RUB near Benniganahalli at KM 322.150 on NH-4 MKB section has been approved for Rs. 12.03 crore
*The construction of RUB will be taken up by the South Western Railways / National Highways by Box Pushing method without effecting the traffic; tenders have been called.
*RUB at KM 322.150 at Benniganahalli on NH -4 MKB Section
*NH has already initiated land acquisition proceedings.


DELHI METRO RAIL PROPOSAL
High Speed Rail Link to New Bengaluru Airport
*Detailed project report for a high speed rail connection from the City centre to the new airport was submitted to GoK on 30/09/07.
*The journey time to the airport will be only 25 minutes by rail from the city centre against 75 to 90 minutes by road
*Travel cost will be much lower compared to taxi/car – Rs. 200/- against Rs. 450/
*Each train consists of 6 coaches; fully air-conditioned
*Maximum operating speed 145 Kmph & commercial speed will be 85 Kmph.
*Number of trains set proposed – 10 Nos. initially.
*To start with, train frequency will be 10 minutes
*At June 2007 Prices: land and Taxes - Rs. 3716 crores
