Project Update: BMIC

BMIC PROJECT
Freedom Park unveiled

Though the work on Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project is limping due to government’s noncooperation, its promoters Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited (NICE) have set up Freedom Park at Clover Leaf junction, which intersects the peripheral road and expressway at Sompura village near Kengeri.
NICE has spent more than Rs 2.5 crore on the park, which is spread on a sprawling 100-acre plot. The park will be illuminated on weekends in the evening and fireworks display would be an added attraction on Sundays. Ashok Kheny, MD of NICE, has dedicated this park to the media, as he believes that true the gift of Indian democracy is freedom of the press. “Due to this gift, India has been able to maintain its democracy as compared to other countries, which got Independence at the same time,’’ he says. The speciality of the Freedom Park is a water fountain sporting saffron, white and green colours.
The Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), which has turned out to be an important road connecting major arterial roads in Bangalore, has been attracting tourists, besides being a family destination on weekends. The environment-friendly lush greenery has made the PRR a favourite location for shooting films, television serials and advertisements.
