With the civil aviation ministry expressing strong displeasure and a crucial BIAL board meeting scheduled for June 22, the 23rd month into construction of the Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli has been buzzing with action.
At the site, however, construction has continued unimpaired: The roof has been placed on the terminal building, the west side wall has also been completed. While five of the eight fixed link bridges connecting the terminal building and the apron, 11 of 16 escalators and three of eight glass elevators, three of eight X-ray machines have been fixed, and the baggage handling system is being installed in the departure area.
