The green cover on the four roads including Race Course Road which would be widened will be preserved as the trees would be uprooted and transplanted.
While transplantation of the small trees on the route has already been undertaken, the bigger ones will be identified and transplanted at Hotel Taj West End as well as on the footpath.
“Tweleve trees have been identified for immediate transplantation at Taj West End Hotel and those trees which cannot be tranplanted will be felled,” said Krishna Udupdai, Deputy Conservator of Forest, BBMP.
Similarly, BBMP has identified 50 odd trees on Seshadari Road which will be transplanted while two trees on Kasturba Road will be removed. Close to 300 trees are said to be affected during the road widening project, a source said.

PHONE CONNECTIONS HIT
Meanwhile, telephone companies complained that the road widening work was undertaken without giving any notification and that the earth movers while demolishing the boundary walls had damaged the telephone cables.
“About 50 per cent of the telephone network in the city has been down as they cables have been damaged,” said Pathan Khan, Maintenance Manager, Reliance Telecom.
