BMRCL Update: Reach One gets under way from both ends
Reach One gets under way from both ends
Bangalore: With the Metro environment advisory committee deciding to translocate the huge trees from MG Road promenade to Manekshaw grounds, the BMRCL will take up the work on a pilot basis.
Meanwhile, the Metro project has gathered momentum with work commencing from both ends of Reach One — between MG Road and Byappanahalli. Groundwork has already begun for the station at Byappanahalli. Simultaneously, drilling and piling work has
commenced on Old Madras Road. On CMH Road, shifting of utilities like water pipes and telephone lines has been completed. Near the Defence Colony, authorities have fenced off the defence land allotted for the project. Simultaneously, drilling and piling work has also commenced in the area and at Binnamangala.
On MG Road, the authorities have stepped up the barricading work. “We have more or less removed the slope on the bund. In two days we will move in additional earthmovers as we are planning to remove the bund by this week,’’ BMRCL chief V Madhu told The Times of India.
At the casting yard for Reach One in Binnamanagala, the ground is being prepared to set up the giant equipment to manufacture piers. The authorities expect the trial work to commence in a week.
