BETL Update: Work progressing at express speed
Work progressing at express speed
The elevated expressway on Hosur Road is well on track to be complete by the targeted date of July 2008, says the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is building the expressway.
About 20 piers (out of the 1,500-odd that are needed) are up. An official with NHAI said casting of the expressway segments has begun. The assembly of two gantries — that will be used to put together the segments and then fit them on to the piers — has also started.
“Work on two pedestrian underpasses — at Singasandra and Kudlu junctions — are also making good progress,” the official said. The PWD has committed to upgrading the road
connecting Attibele junction on Hosur Road with Sarjapur Road and Dommasandra by June 1. This will help to divert heavy vehicles away from the Hosur Road so that there is less congestion on Hosur Road during the construction of the expressway.
STAGE OF WORK
Service roads: Of the 10 km to be done, 9.5 km completed Erection of drains: 18.6 km done, 1.4 km left 6-laning of main road: 18 km done. 2 km left Elevated expressway: 400 piles (foundations for pillars) done. 20 pillars done (the total will be over 1,500).

Given that this is a toll road, there is every incentive to finish it quickly.
My biggest worry is what Silkboard will look like in the evenings. It is going to be one big bottleneck. And BTM Ring Road - one nightmare.
