Bangalore: Not taking any chances, the police have strengthened security for the first death anniversary of thespian Rajkumar on Thursday.
Over 11,000 armed policemen will be on the streets from the dawn to prevent any violence like last year violence where eight persons including a policeman were killed. Two companies of RAF will be available in the city to be
deployed anytime, police commissioner N Achuta Rao said.
“We do not anticipate such major violence this year. But intelligence reports indicate that it is going to be a tough affair near the actor’s samadhi (Kanteerava Studio) where Raj Kumar’s family is planning a ceremony to feed 10,000 poor persons,’’ a senior police officer said.
To avoid any type of violence and stampede near the samadhi, security has been beefed up. Similar security arrangements will be made near the actor’s house in Sadashivanagar where over 2,000 people from film fraternity will assemble to take part in death anniversary prayers.
Apart from this, the police have drawn a long list of sensitive and hyper sensitive areas which have witnessed violence during previous agitations.
