PRESENT TENSE, FUTURE PERFECT: An artist’s impression released by BMRCL shows how MG Road will look after five years when Reach One of the Metro Rail is ready. The bund and promenade will be removed and reduced to road level. A detailed plan to recreate the greenery has been drawn up. This includes recreating the bund at the existing level, landscaping the slope, creating a walking path, track lights, low-mast ornamental lighting throughout the path, dwarf trees, shrubs and runners (creepers) around the piers. BMRCL MD V Madhu said: “We will do our best to give the showcase of Bangalore, MG Road, a better look in terms of ambience and visibility. We believe the recreation of the bund and landscaping will make the road look spectacular. The recreated bund will be extended up to Mayo Hall.”
