BANGALORE:Now a separate lane for two-wheelersis on the agenda of Bangalore city traffic police.

Interacting with reporters in Bangalore onTuesday, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Road Safety) M NReddy said the separatelane system for autorickshaws has evoked goodpublic response and hencethe department is contemplating on extending thissystem to two-wheelers aswell. The traffic policewere also contemplating onimposing new traffic rulesfor call centre vehicles,maxicabs, lorry and buseson the same line of conditions imposed on autorickshaws. According to theproposed rule, the first violation of traffic rule wouldattract a fine of Rs 2,000,subsequent violationswould cost Rs 5,000 andthird instance would resultin cancellation of the vehicle`s permit, said Mr Reddy.

He also indicated thatinstallation of speed governors was likely to be mademandatory for all publictransport vehicles (vehicles bearing yellow-colourregistration number plate)from this year and that thetransport department hasbeen examining this proposal.
