In a couple of months, walkways in Basavanagudi will don a new look. MLA K Chandrashekhar, who has introduced several unique features in Basavangudi Assembly constituency, has come up with another new concept. The former corporator of Hanumanthanagar believes that “beauty and facility should both start from walkways.”

A safe walkway project has been planned for Basavangudi with Cera Granite, Sadrali Flame Stone, Granite and Tiles which will be durable as well as elegant. Saplings will dot these walkways at certain points. Decorative chains will be used to protect the saplings. This project will cover the entire 23 km in the constituency.

Accupressure effect

“The walkways have been designed in such a way that they will provide accupressure feeling for those using them,” he claimed.

The project will be implemented utilising the MLAs fund, special grant by the corporation and the Mayor’s grant, totalling Rs 10 crore.

“Do we need corporate companies to carry out neat jobs? We have shown that not only the foreign countries but even Bangalore can have neat roads and walkways,” said Chandarshekhar.

“The area has 6 wards out of which three has BJP corporators and the other three Congress ones. But we are not differentiating between them and are giving uniform look to all the six wards,” he said.

He intends to take up one project per year and the next year its going to be asphalting.
