BANGALORE: Residents and traders along CMH Road on Monday threatened to carry out a satyagraha against Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the company that is executing the metro rail project, if it started work in that area. The residents of CMH Road have been at loggerheads with BMRCL over a demand to shift the alignment from the proposed location to Old Madras Road.

BMRCL officials had visited CMH Road on Monday morning to carry out a preliminary survey before utility shifting. Residents who demanded that they produce a government order authorising them to carry out the survey stopped them from carrying out the survey.

Meanwhile, a group of residents along the CMH Road have signed a petition demanding that the alignment should not be changed to Old Madras Road. On the other hand, president of CMH Road Traders Association Imtiaz Ahamed said that they still hoped that the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would listen to their pleas and consider a change in alignment.

Speaking to this website’s newspaper, BMRCL Managing Director V Madhu said that resident’s gheraoed his workers when they went to conduct a survey, but by then their work was already over. ‘‘The Government has notified us on November 15 that there will be no change in the alignment along any corridor,’’ he added.
