A shuttle service between the HAL airport and the City proper as a joint venture run either by hoteliers or BMTC, is among the many

options being considered by the authorities in a bid to find a way out of the persisting traffic woes on Airport Road.

The issue is learnt to have figured prominently during the meeting of the Chief Secretary-level City Infrastructure Review Committee held on Saturday.

The meeting reportedly took note that congestion persists on the Airport Road during nights too with each hotel deputing its own cab to cater to its guests arriving or departing by the late night international flights.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M N Reddi said a decision in this regard will be taken soon.

“We are weighing many options; issues like whether a collective service can be facilitated, if so should a bus bay be put up opposite the airport or whether these public transport buses can be provided parking space on the airport premises, he said.”

The time consuming security checks are also contributing to the traffic congestion and the airport authorities have been asked to address the same. Whether the airport authorities can utilise the domestic area facilities to speed up the check-in and check-out processes during peak hours of international flights, is also being looked into, he said.
