New alignments and some FAQs

METRO RAIL
New alignments and some FAQs

Here are some details about Bangalore’s metro rail
Monorail-metro rail
Though there was some confusion, it has been resolved. Metro rail has emerged as the numero uno choice simply because of its carrying capacity over mono rail. However, the mono rail will also be integrated with the mass transport system and be used as feeder lines.
The monorail component has four corridors:
Corridor I: Connects Kanakapura Road and Mysore Road, and Kathriguppe and National College.
Corridor II: Connects Bannerghatta National Park and Adugodi.
Corridor III: Connects Tumkur Road and Bellary Road
Corridor IV: Connects Mysore Road and Tumkur Road, and Magadi Road and Toll Gate.
Seamless integration will make it efficient. Like in some countries, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) will introduce smart cards for commuters. One card can be used to travel in the metro, mono, BMTC busses and taxis.
New alignments
and changes
RITES consultants are preparing the project report for three new alignments - Trinity Circle to Silk Board Junction, K R Puram to Electronic City and Yelahanka to Majestic. Going by the sources many more new alignments may come into the project. The BMRC on the other hand has planned to extend the corridors, and in total around 6 km will be extended. In Byappanahalli, the corridor extends to the Outer Ring Road by 1 km. In the R V Road alignment, the corridor will be extended till Banashankari. In Peenya, the metro rail services will be extended upto Hesaraghatta.
