BANGALORE: Perfect Engineering Works, a digital meter manufacturer for autos and taxis, on Monday urged the Government to make digital meters mandatory in all autorickshaws in the City.

The proprietor of the company said that the meters provide accurate readings and there will be less confrontation between commuters and autorickshaw drivers.

“We can update the software in the meters and meter readings can be brought up-to-the-minute. If the driver tampers with the meter, then the meter will flash a warning message,” he said and added that the meter will automatically shift to night-time charges.

The proprietor announced a reward of Rs 10,000 to those who provide information about tampered meters.
