BMP assessing 7 CMCs

In the stock taking exercise towards formation of Greater Bangalore, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is assessing the 7 CMCs and one TMC, that are going to be part of the mega plan, on a host of prominent issues. They include the financial position, implementation of government schemes, present staffing pattern, position of municipal assets, and the system of solid waste collections across each of these bodies.

It is learnt that the respective departments in the BMP - like health and engineering- have been ordered to conduct a survey on issues specific to them in these bodies. The departmental heads are also expected to chalk out their activity plan concerning the new areas.

The CMCs have been told to work on their zones and zonal headquarters, and the creation of ranges and range headquarters at the earliest. One view is that the zonal system prevalent in the BMP can be continued in the new areas too, it is said. The heads of each of the seven CMCs have been asked to list out 10 issues that are critical and important in their areas.
