Metro Rail work on track

Metro Rail work on track
The Times of India

Bangalore: The Bangalore Metro Rail project will have to wait for some more time to get going on the ground.
Currently, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) is busy getting the utilities shifted. Bescom and BSNL have started shifting the utilities around the city.
Some drilling work for the via duct pillars is on. BMRC has issued letters of invitation for the via ducts to the shortlisted contractors. The 12 shortlisted consortia were invited to collect the documents to file tenders. This should be done by mid-November. It is hoped that orders would be placed by December and the work to start by December-end or January.
The other major work that is on is land acquisition where BMRC officials say two-thirds are under way. With the exception Mahakavi Kuvempu Road and CMH Road, where objections have been filed and they are awaiting hearing. The case hearing will commence after the CM visits the place as he had promised and it is likely to be on October 21.
Also, the BMRC is awaiting the approval from the General consultants from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
