Cruising smoothly

Cruising smoothly
The Times of India

Bangalore: Want to zoom at 120 kmph? Take a test drive on this hassle-free Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor’s (BMIC) peripheral road connecting Mysore road with Kanakapura road as also Bannerghatta road. This 16-km stretch executed by BMIC promoters, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE), makes sure that your drive is not a bumpy one.
Barring minor hiccups at Gottigere (near Bannerghatta), the 7-km stretch connecting Kanakapura road to Bannerghatta road has been completed in record time. Cattle underpass, road over and under bridges inter-connecting the villages on the stretch have been developed and thrown open to traffic.
The NICE company has taken up execution of 16-km stretch between Bannerghatta road and Hosur road on a war-footing. This stretch of peripheral road has thrown up twin advantages: infrastructure development as also a spurt in real estate activities in the adjoining areas. Proximity to Electronic City has resulted in scores of apartments coming up; many more housing complexes and business establishments are coming up on this road. An interchange bridge on Hosur road is being completed inside of seven months — a record — without stopping the dense traffic even for a day.
As the area around Bannerghatta road is known for elephant menace, NICE has taken care to put up a huge compound right from Mysore road to Bannerghatta road. Small parks with fancy plants and trees are maintained all along the 32-km stretch (Mysore road-Kanakapura road-Bannerghatta road and Hosur road) of the peripheral road. However, due to non-availability of land, expressway to Mysore has been stopped.
