Helmet rule from September 1 in Karnataka

BANGALORE: Karnataka Home Minister M.P. Prakash on Friday said that the helmet rule would be implemented from September 1 and the Government was thinking of relaxing it in case of pillion riders.

Though the Government issued an order earlier making helmets compulsory for the rider and pillion rider, it was thinking of relaxing the rule following representations.

Mr. Prakash said if the rule had to be relaxed, the Government would have to file a review petition in the High Court which had directed it to make helmets mandatory for both the riders. .

On the defamation case filed against the Chief Minister and others by BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy and a Bellary court issuing summons for their personal appearance on September 7, Mr. Prakash said they were consulting legal experts on the matter.
