It’s official now... The B-TRAC 2010 project has been handed over to the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL), for implementation. Bangalore City Police Commissioner Achutha Rao and Ramesh Bindurao Jalki, KRDCL Managing Director, on Wednesday, signed an MoU to the effect.
“No other State in the country has come forward to spend Rs 350 crore on traffic management alone. Now, we can think of having world class traffic management in our city. And, around Rs 44 crore has been set aside for the current financial year. Everything will go as per plan and there might be slight spillovers which can be taken up in the next financial year,” said M N Reddy, Addl CP (Traffic & Security).
FOR 2006-07
*Around 125 traffic signals will be upgraded with Intelligent Transportation System.
*Traffic Surveillance, monitoring and enforcement through monitoring cameras, red/speed cameras and upgradation of automated enforcement system.
BENEFITS
*Traffic congestion will be reduced by 30% in the central area of Bangalore city.
* Accidents will be reduced by 30% in the city.
* Significant reduction in pollution.
