Residents of Rajajinagar and surrounding areas are complaining against the stretched hours of unscheduled load shedding in their areas. Apart from the notified load shedding in the City, these areas are bearing the brunt of extra power cut hours, because of the heavy duty transformer that is being set up at the Rajajinagar Power House.

Bescom had issued a circular recently, stating that there would be unscheduled load shedding due to the setting up of the transformer, and residents complain that the department should have mentioned specified timings.

Six hours

“These areas have been experiencing more than six hours of power failure every day, since August 6. There is no power till 9 pm in the night, and it is becoming exceedingly difficult for us to commute in our areas, as it is pitch dark in the nights,” complains a resident of Rajajinagar.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Bescom Superintendent Sethu Ram said that areas like Rajajinagar, Vijaynagar, Chickpet, Balepet, Chamarajpet, Mysore Road, Timber layout, Basavangudi, Mavalli and surrounding areas would experience power cuts for longer hours till August 18.

“Until the work gets completed, these areas will suffer from longer hours of power cut,” he said .
