BANGALORE: The environment comes alive with the sights and smells of the finest collection of flowers. It creates a picturesque atmosphere that cannot be explained but only experienced. And only poets can bind them into their poem.

Welcome to the Indian Independence Day Horticultural Show 2006 at Glasshouse, Lalbagh. The panoramic display of variety of flowers, bonsai, plants and foliage reflect man’s real love for nature.

The GlassHouse is packed with spectacular exhibitions and inspirational gardens that incorporates the theme “peace and bio-diversity.” One can get to see the national flag decorated with anthurium flowers, the bird carrying the peace message on top of a map, the national bird peacock decorated in the Thai art form with banana and bettle leaves.

To depict this year’s Suvarna Karnataka celebrations, flowers of red and yellow colours are used to portray the Karnataka flag. Moreover, the flowerbeds of different flowers like petunia, orchids, crysanthemem, caladiums and roses give a spectacular view. There is also an arrangement of rose flowers and Thai art in making a colourful tower and a mantapa built with Jannur art form.

The other fascinating diversity is displayed in the various cultural heritage in South India with bamboos, plants, wood and flowers. It included Pongal, Onam, flower house, chariot of Hampi, Kawadi of Tamil Nadu and Charminar. The Karnataka’s traditional horticulture wealth is being displayed at an exclusive stall.

Nearly 80 stalls came up with an exciting range of nursery products, amla, herbal products, gardening gadgets and accessories. Over 800 organisations and nurseries are participating in the show. Overall, it gives one the opportunity to buy, explore the beauty of nature and get inspirational ideas for gardening.

The show was inaugurated on Tuesday. Horticulture Minister Shashikant Nayak, Deputy Mayor M Laxminarayana and MLA Ramalinga Reddy were present at the inauguration. Over 800 organisations, nurseries are participating in the show. There is also an exclusive stall on traditional horticulture wealth in Karnataka.
