BANGALORE: The HAL airport in the City now has a new international terminal to handle the burgeoning domestic and international traffic. Dr K Ramalingam, Regional Executive Director, Airports Authority of India, Southern Region, inaugurated it on Tuesday. “We have opened a new terminal with a capacity to accommodate 1,500 passengers, to cater to the increasing traffic to Bangalore,” he said.

The Airports Authority has added a new international check-in area measuring 1,750 sq-mtrs to accommodate 550 passengers. The international security hold area has been extended by 850 sq-mtrs and can accommodate 700 passengers. The extended customs and baggage clearing area can accommodate 400 passengers. The arrival immigration has been extended by 220 sq-mtrs to accommodate 475 passengers, while the domestic check-in area can hold 716 passengers. The domestic security hold area has been extended by 625 sq-mtrs to accommodate 800 passengers. Bangalore airport is third in terms of passengers/aircraft movement, next to Mumbai and Delhi airports.
