Bangalore: Nearly 24 buildings, which allegedly violate rules and encroach upon the Nayandahalli valley , are to be razed on W ednesday .

The demolition process will be taken up by the Bangalore Metropolitan T ask Force (BMTF). According to sources, the demolitions will begin around 6 am under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner , Bangalore U rban as it is a revenue land.

More than 200 policemen will be pressed into service during the demolition, a senior police officer told Vijay Times.

During the rains that lashed the City last October , areas in and around Nayandahalli, including the busy Mysore Road were flooded in knee-deep water , bringing the movement of traffic to a halt.

The government had constituted a committee to identify buildings on the valley , off Mysore Road, that connects the V rishabhavathi V alley .

After a survey of four sewage valleys in the City , the committee identified several buildings along a stretch of 2.5 km, including a multi-storeyed building.

The committee, headed by BDA Commissioner M N Vidyashankar , comprises the Deputy Commissioner , Bangalore urban, the heads of municipal councils and the Bangalore Metropolitan T ask Force.
