BANGALORE: Close on the heels of the daring attack on rowdy Palani in HOSMAT Hospital, the City Police Commissioner has suspended two police inspectors on charges of failing to check rowdies.

On Monday evening, Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh suspended Vivek Nagar Inspector Dawood Khan and Mahalakshmi Layout Inspector Kenche Gowda.

Earlier in the day, speaking to reporters, Singh expressed displeasure over the failure to check rowdy activities and warned the officers of strict action.

Palani, who was a rowdy-sheeter in Vivek Nagar, was hacked to death by rivals while he was undergoing treatment in HOSMAT. The murder was apparently carried out in retaliation for the murders of two rowdies in Vivek Nagar last year.

On January 28, a realtor was hacked to death by Ravi, an associate of rowdy Korangu, in Mahalakshmi Layout police limits. The police are yet to arrest the accused.
