Many firsts for Arkavathy

Many firsts for Arkavathy

The Times of India

Bangalore: The proposed Arkavathy Layout will have many firsts. It will be the first layout to have dual water supply system, independent sewage and water treatment plants, mandatory rain water harvesting techniques and above all, a permanent venue for water sports.

The BDA will make use of the four fresh water lakes that will fall within the ambit of the layout for water supply and a sewage treatment plant. Hence, dual water supply lines will be provided for potable and non-potable water to every property, BDA commissioner M N Vidyashankar told reporters on Tuesday.

Rain water harvesting will be made mandatory in the layout and building plans will not be approved unless they have provisions for RWH techniques. This apart, BDA will provide necessary infrastructure to hold water sports in the four lakes in Hebbal, Rachenahalli, Nagawara and Jakkur which falls under Arkavathy, Vidyashankar added.

When asked about the demand by the farmers for hike in compensation in view of the guidance value revision, Vidyashankar said “under the provision of Land Acquisition Act, farmers can seek hike in the compensation but this matter will be settled by the civil courts.’’

After Sankranti, BDA will make an announcement of its new layout touted to be the biggest layout in the country with 50,000 sites.

Peripheral ring road, notification soon: The BDA will shortly issue notification for the second phase of land acquisition process for the proposed peripheral ring road project. Work on the land acquisition is likely to be completed by June after which work will commence, added Vidyashankar.

The 117-km ring road will cut through 3,800 acres of land which also has some built up structures on it. The ring road will be access free, Vidyashankar added.
