Two-way traffic sought towards Magadi Road from Rajajinagar Entrance
BANGALORE: Traffic was disrupted for about an hour on Magadi Road and surrounding areas on Tuesday as a large number of people staged a rasta roko urging the police to allow two-way traffic towards Magadi Road from Rajajinagar Entrance where a grade separator has come up.
According to the police, vehicular movement on Magadi Road, Rajkumar Road, Vatal Nagaraj Road and Okalipuram Main Road was affected because of the demonstration.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-West) Basavaraj Y. Malaghati told The Hindu that it is not possible to allow two-way traffic as demanded by the public, as the authorities have not put up a road median from Ram Kumar Mills, off Rajajinagar Entrance, towards Magadi Road.
"The absence of the median will lead to road accidents as there is a steep curve. We cannot allow two-way traffic until a road median is put up," Mr. Malaghati said. After senior police officials promised the people that they would allow two-way traffic after the median is put up, the public withdrew the protest.
The authorities had reportedly promised the public that they would put up road medians by December 5 and ensure that two-way traffic is allowed towards Magadi Road.
