Emphasising the need for a cleaner Bangalore, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday told the Commissioner of the Bangalore City Corporation to put his engineers on the job before the entire City turns into a garbage dump .

Justice Ram Mohan Reddy made these remarks while hearing a petition filed by a resident of Vidyaranyanagar seeking a direction to the BCC to allot him land.

The petitioner said that he was promised by the corporation in 1978 that a piece of land would be leased out to him for carrying out business. However , it did not materialise. In this regard, the Court had sought for some records and also summoned the Commissioner .

Justice Reddy told the Commissioner , It is high time you overhaul your engineering department. If it is not done, the City would turn into a garbage dump . Look at the City and the unauthorised constructions. If this scenario were to continue, not a single vehicle can ply on the road and no person can live here. Y ou better revamp your entire department. Put your engineers on the job immediately .

The Court also sought to know as to why the land was not given. Where is the land? Corporation land cannot be fritted away , it said.
