Responding to protests against the proposed underpass/flyover at the Ramakrishna Circle on Bull Temple Road, Basavangudi MLA K Chandrashekhar made public a blueprint of the plan and allayed concerns regarding the Rs 40-crore project.

On Thursday, Chandrashekhar said fears about the proposed grade separator affecting movement to and from the Ramakrishna Ashrama were out of place. “The plan doesn’t cover areas in front of the Ashrama. In fact, the underpass begins three properties away from the Ashrama,” he said.

The MLA also said that the entire road surface in front of the Ashrama would remain unaffected. The park next to the Ashrama would also be left untouched.

The underpass/flyover has been proposed to cover three roads in four directions. Two underpasses would cover Chamarajpet towards the N R Colony and Gandhi Bazaar directions, while the flyover would come up to the south of Bull Temple Road towards Vani Vilas Road. The MLA said trees needed to be felled for the project. He said he was open to discussions with the Ashrama authorities.
