BANGALORE: The garden city now has of another new park with a difference. On four acres of land situated in West of Chord Road at Rajajinagar, the park has a unique zig zag walkway with ups and downs that is beneficial for the heart patients and also houses medicinal and herbal plants.

Education Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the park on Wednesday. It was developed under the Bangalore City Corporation’s Welfare Scheme.

The BMP, in collaboration with the Public Vigilance Forum and Foundation for Re-Vitalising Local Health Tradition (FRLHT) also organised a plantation programme to mark the inauguration of the park. The Minister distributed about 1,000 medicinal plants.

The park has been named after Sadguru Siddharooda Swami, who is the first ‘swami’ of Siddarooda mutt.

The first block circle at Rajijinagar was named after Dr Munivenkata Swamy on the same day.

Rajajinagar MLA, Nagendra Babu said medicinal plants are very useful in preventing acidity, burning sensation, cough and respiratory problems. Plants can be cloned in five by five area in any house.

A photography contest was also organised in which many enthusiastic professionals and amateurs participated. The theme was ‘nature is the teacher’.

Around 150 free tailoring machines were distributed to the needy people by the MLA. In the Parisabha Utsava, competitions on kitchen garden and art of ‘ekaban’ were conducted.

MLA Narendra Babu added that around 8,000 plants will be distributed by BCC in his constituency.
