BANGALORE: The State High Level Committee (SHLC) headed by Chief Minister Dharam Singh cleared 24-mega projects worth around Rs 25,000 crore with a potential employment generation for around 83,400 people.
The investments cleared by the SHLC include 10 Steel Plants and allied industries and 9 IT and ITES related projects.
Some of the major projects cleared include an expansion of the existing Jindal Vijayanagar Steels Ltd at Torangal in Bellary district, Toyota Kirloskar Motor to build compact cars at its existing campus at Bidadi on the outskirts of the City, IT major Wipro in Bangalore among others.
Briefing the decisions of the SHLC to media persons on Tuesday, Finance and Industries Minister P G R Sindhia said that manufacturing unit for compact cars in the state at an estimated investment of Rs 1,147 crore. The company has planned to have an installed capacity of 1,50,000 cars and aimed at providing employment to around 2,600 people.
The committee also cleared a Rs 10,912 crore proposal of Jindal Vijaynagar Steel Plant to enhance production capacity from the current 3.8 million Tonnes Per Annum (TPA) to 8 million TPA. The investment would be in two phases, with the first one amounting to Rs 6,242 crore.
Sindhia said that the coalition government had so far cleared 383 projects with an investment of around Rs 77,460 crore and an employment to over 5.80 lakh persons.
Other major projects cleared at the SHLC include:
*JSW Steel Ltd (Torangal, Bellary): to manufacture cold rolled strips/sheets with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore providing jobs to over 280 persons.
*Southern Port Terminals Pvt. Ltd (Torangal): Integrated Steel Plant with Rs 2,805 crore investment and providing 2,000 jobs.
*D J Projects (Bangalore): Infrastructure facilities for IT industries with Rs 1,500 crore investment and providing jobs to 30,000 persons.
*Dynasty Developers Pvt. Ltd (Bangalore): IT Park, with Rs 697 crore investment and creating 2,600 jobs.
*I-flex Solutions Ltd. (Mysore): With an investment of 475 crore and employment for 23,500 persons.
*Wipro Technologies Ltd(Bangalore): Two SEZ's related to IT and ITES on Sarjapur Road and at Electronics City with a total investment of Rs 263 crore and creating 7,800 jobs.
