After dilly-dallying for three years, the Magadi Road–Chord Road Junction underpass will be thrown open to the public on Wednesday. The city’s longest underpass stretching 530.35 meters with four lanes has been constructed at a cost of Rs 31.86 crore and will be inaugurated by CM B. S. Yeddyurappa.
After missing repeated deadlines, the work is finally complete. The plan for the project was changed to integrate the Metro line into the underpass. This junction connects four major roads out of which one is a National Highway (NH 4) and the other two are state highways (Mysore Road and Magadi Road). This part can be cut Vehicles moving between Tumkur Road, Magadi Road and Mysore Road would be signal free with service roads on either sides of the road. The road is being widened for smooth flow of vehicles.
