BDA Has Taken Up Civil Works Worth Rs 60 Crore Implementation Likely In Three Days

Bangalore: Mahadevapura — a constituency dotted with villages and lakes — saw a rain of plans, projects and welfare schemes on Tuesday morning.
In addition to the projects in progress, the BDA has taken up 101 civil works worth Rs 60 crore. These include road development, culverts, bridges and drains. “All these works have been tendered and finalized and are expected to begin in the next 2-3 days,’’ BDA commissioner Siddaiah said.
The BDA will also be take up the construction of four new flyovers on Outer Ring Road at a cost of Rs 144.06 crore. The tenders for these works are to be finalized. “There is no shortage of funds now,’’ he said.
A few development works are being taken up by the BBMP and KIADB. There are also plans to set up a playground matching international standards at Gunjur. two new polytechnic institutes and a digital library, said higher education minister Aravind Limbavali.
Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa who laid the foundation stone for most of these projects said it was all part of bigger plans for a better city. “All 28 assembly constituencies will be developed without any bias. The MLAs must compete against each other towards better development of their constituencies. Further, it also needs greater public vigilance in ensuring that projects get completed on time,’’ he said.
“Currently development work worth Rs 1,900 crore have been undertaken in the city and are at various stages of progress. I don’t need any certificate or laurels for it. However, looking back, one must realize that Yeddyurappa’s government came into power only nine months ago. So, why blame us for the poor infrastructure?’’ he said.
