BANGALORE: Continuing his fight against the High speed Rail Link to the BIA , transportation expert on ABIDe task force, Prof M N Sreehari, said that he would try to explain to the government how travel to the airport does not need multi-modal transport options.
Speaking at a public lecture on Bangalore Traffic Scenario and Status Report at The Institute of Engineers, here on Thursday, he said: “The road connecting the airport to the city is capable enough to handle the traffic for another 10 years as the present volume to capacity ratio of the road is only 0.36.
Moreover, all the people willing to take the HSRL, will need to come to the City Airport Terminal at BRV Parade Grounds in the central business district, adding pressure to the already congested area.
” The HSRL project received state cabinet approval at the Cabinet meeting in Belgaum.
Meanwhile, Sreehari supported expansion of metro rail and introduction of monorail within the city areas.
He also suggested the introduction of a bus rapid transit system on the Outer Ring Road and a dedicated lane for bus movement on the extreme left on few wide city roads.
