Another protest causes traffic jam

Another protest causes traffic jam
DH News Service, Bangalore:

The City suffered a major traffic blockade yet again. This time around, the disruption lasted for more than an hour on roads in and around Raj Bhavan on Thursday afternoon. The reason was a protest by the Congress party against the functioning of the BJP government.

Congress party workers, numbering over 2,000, took out a procession from the KPCC office around 3 pm to protest against the manner in which the BJP govt was functioning. The protestors arrived in bikes and cars causing the chaos.

Vehicles piled up on Infantry Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Palace Road, Cubbon Road and CTO Circle. With vehicles stranded in front of all junctions, it was literally impossible for pedestrians to cross roads.

Repeated pleas

Motorists drove on both sides of the footpath to escape from another traffic jam. Repeated pleas from traffic police to adhere to norms went in vain. Verbal sparks flew between drivers, motorists and pedestrians. The situation limped back to normalcy only after the rally concluded, police said.

The procession culminated near Minsk Square where a public meeting was held.
Vehicular standstill on the roads put pressure on adjoining roads creating bottlenecks all around the area.
