Bangalore:

After the success of Volvo buses, KSRTC has launched two Mercedes Benz buses for a trial period.

The luxury Benz buses cost a whopping Rs 80 lakhs. The new 305 horse-power, Euro 3-complaint coach comes with an O 500 R/RF chassis from the MB stable, and bodies built by a Jalandhar-based company.

The question now is: with s many varieties and brands of transport systems will people actually leave their expensive cars at home and to take the Benz bus?

"Benz bus sounds exciting and I don't mind trying it. But I won't ditch my car to travel by the bus. When you're going by a bus, you need to keep so many things in mind but with your own vehicle it's much easier," says Arnab Khanna, who travels from Koramangala to Whitefield every day in his car.

Dr. Ashfaq Khan says: "From the time luxury buses came into existence. I've stopped taking my car, it's easier to take the luxury buses as BMTC buses are always crowded and badly maintained. Mercedes Benz bus will definitely be superior."

Arnab - Don't you think you are putting undue pressure on the infrastructure by using your car? Had you been in Singapore, you would have been waiting for years for your car permit. Thanks to corrupt and unwise policies of Government and administration, people like you are creating mess for others,
Dr. Ashfaq Khan, thanks a lot for giving it a try and using buses. You deserve a hug for being such considerate.
